Swimming in Ayrshire spans sheltered Firth-of-Clyde beaches, freshwater loch swims, and indoor lane pools for the colder months. The South Ayrshire coast offers consistently good water quality and gentle shelving — Girvan, Maidens and the Ayr seafront are all well-known summer spots. Loch Doon further inland gives a freshwater alternative that warms up earlier in spring.
